MIKE ELLER
Republican
State Representative
Michigan’s 32nd District
I’m running for State Representative because I believe Michigan government must once again serve residents, families, and small businesses—rather than expanding its own size and power.
I am a lifelong resident of Ypsilanti, a husband, father of four sons, and proud grandfather of five boys. For more than 35 years, I’ve owned and operated a business employing teams across southern Michigan and Northern Ohio.
My commitment to our community includes active involvement in the Republican Party:
Member, Washtenaw County Republican Party Executive Committee
State Committeeman, Michigan Republican Party
Precinct Delegate, Ypsilanti
The Issues
Runaway Government Growth
Michigan families do not exist to support never‑ending growth in Lansing while family budgets are continually squeezed. Since 2019, the state budget has grown by roughly 40%, with little accountability or measurable improvement for taxpayers.
The Property Tax Trap
Michigan families should not have to rent their homes from the government. Thousands of seniors have lost their homes due to property tax burdens, and only a small percentage of 30‑year‑olds are able to purchase homes largely because of the high cost of property taxes.
Protecting Families and Parental Authority
Parents—not bureaucracies—are responsible for the proper care, guidance, and education of their children. Michigan ranks 44th in the nation in the key metric of 4th Grade reading even though we spend $21,000 per student, per year of taxpayer money. The Social Gospel of the Left has taken over the classroom, setting aside basic skills and are attempting to teach our kids what to think instead of how to think! This undermines the family unit, parental authority and sends children into the world unprepared, severely eroding the competitiveness of the State of Michigan.
Local Control and Accountability
Decisions affecting our daily lives—zoning, housing, schools, revenue sharing, and more—are increasingly controlled by distant bureaucracies in Lansing. This disconnect removes accountability and silences local voters.
My Commitment to You
As your State Representative, I will work to:
Cut wasteful government spending and return the state budget to pre‑COVID levels
Eliminate the state income tax
Exempt seniors from property taxes and work toward phasing out property taxes entirely
Remove government from the classroom, restoring parental authority
Return decision‑making power to local communities and elected officials, accountable to you
A Restored Michigan
Michigan government must be returned to its rightful size and role—one that aligns with Constitutional values and principles. Our state government should exist to serve residents, families, and small businesses, not bureaucracies and bloat in Lansing.
I have a proven track record of showing up to do the work. I am committed to being an active, physically present voice for our community, not a passive placeholder.
